SDExpo 2007

The event turned out dual - on the one hand, such a guru Bruce Eckel (author of Thinking in Java) carried the light to the masses, on the other hand a lot of overlap in the organization.
From the program of the conference learned that the site of IBM - www. microsoft. com ( my mother still helps to Bill, it seems ).
Two days were deprived of our welcome coffee. A trifle, of course, but for the IT people coffee, especially in the early morning ( 9:00 ) would be highly desirable.
Coffee breaks were, frankly, economical. The first time I saw that the offer has already brewed tea ( the EU, but one species in a thermos:). Well, something serious, I swear.
Hotel Radisson SAS Slavyanskaya as a whole was not brilliant, it looks pretty shabby ( that Madonna is all smashed in the last visit?).
The reports were very different and subject matter, and spirit. There have been quite specific statements were very general (like my own ' Evolution of Software Development ').
Of particularly liked the guys I want to note the report from Intel. They moved the report (another organizational blunder ), resulting in a shifted, and my report and my students almost lost their coffee break. But despite the lack of time the wild, they are still very interesting to tell about concurrent programming, which inevitably awaits all of us - because Intel has not released a single single-core CPU and processors kvadroyadernye now available for desktops.

The fact that it is not like it - Cover page of Jim McCarthy, author of ' Developing with the team spirit '. Perhaps he was accustomed to America, but we somehow did not fall apart on shout made during the presentations, whether you are at least three times a guru. All this is vividly reminded pastors of different sects which flooded Russia in the early 90s, and led to mixed feelings. And even a little was like Herbalife - meetings:) Though God knows, may be so accepted, because crying is somehow. Steve Ballmer. :).
But, in my opinion, the contents of the report are also more likely fit a seminar on philosophy than on the keynote software development best practices.
Among the other memorable events InstallFest colleagues from Sun, who offered to put Solaris second system for everyone, or at least to assess the availability of drivers and compatibility. Unfortunately, both my laptop refused to connect to wi-fi- network sdexpo.

In general, I was expecting a few more. The first pancake?.
